Split! Carpet & Upholstery Cleaner (Blue)

  • Q – Can you provide recommended dilution ratios for the Carpet & Upholstery Cleaner?

  • A – Here it is!

  • Q - How do I decide when to use the Restorative Cleaner and when to use the Carpet and Upholstery cleaner?

  • A – The Restorative is for soiled carpet that has been that way awhile, very noticeable soiled areas or areas with obvious tracking, such as hallways. Also, places you know that are real problem areas with asphalt walk off or multiple spills and stains that need heavy cleaning. The Carpet & Upholstery Cleaner is a great maintenance product and can be used on about 85% of the soiled carpet we see with remarkable success. All this means to you is that most of the carpet you have, can be cleaned successfully with the Carpet & Upholstery Cleaner. You will need to judge what areas need the Restorative. And really, you probably can clean almost all areas with the Carpet & Upholstery Cleaner, but it might take more time on difficult soils than the Restorative would take.

  • Q – Can you step through the process using the Carpet & Upholstery Cleaner for upholstery and spots on upholstery?

  • A – Sure. The key to cleaning any upholstery successfully is balancing the amount of product you use to effectively remove the soiled area and the dwell time you need to make sure Split! is the most effective. You want to avoid over wetting the upholstery to save the foam/stuffing inside from getting wet and avoid possible damage. First, Dry Vacuum the surface of the intended target upholstery. Pre-spray with Carpet & Upholstery Cleaner diluted 8 oz. per gallon in a spray bottle or a pump-up sprayer, using a light, fine atomized spray to wet and penetrate the surface. Let dwell for up to three minutes. Agitate with a microfiber cloth or soft upholstery carpet brush. Pick up the “splitted” material with a clean/dry microfiber cloth, cotton cloth or extraction machine. Dry as thoroughly as possible. Repeat as needed. Some materials, like nylon-based upholstery in car seats are tough and can hold up to multiple cleanings. Others, like home furniture with natural fibers are more delicate and you must be careful how much agitation and repetition you do while cleaning. So, know your target! For very stubborn soils or oil-based soils that have been around for a while, you can use the Restorative Cleaner instead. The Restorative Cleaner will break down certain soils faster and easier. Make sure you thoroughly pick up the “splitted” material when finished cleaning with the Restorative Cleaner, avoiding any leftover on the surface. For a complete job, when dry, dry vacuum the surface of the cleaned upholstery.

  • Q - Can we use Split! Carpet and Upholstery Cleaner to clean wool and natural fibers?

  • ASplit! Carpet & Upholstery Cleaner (Blue Label) works safely and is a great cleaner for wool and natural fibers. Make sure you test the wool etc...first for color dye issues. Natural products that have problems with color run etc...will even have problems with just plain water.
